Gynecology and Well-Women Preventative Care
Gynecologists (GYNs) are physicians who specialize in the medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system. They focus on pregnancy-related health, the female reproductive system, and women's general medical care. While they are concerned with general health problems, they also specialize in more specific female problems, such as breast and cervical cancer, urinary tract and pelvic disorders, and hormonal disorders. Training consists of four years plus two years in clinical practice before certification is completed.
At Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake we partner with Gynecologists to treat specific female health problems. Our general gynecological surgeries include minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation.
From routine care to highly specialized procedures, the gynecological team selects the medical approach that best serves each woman's needs. Medical, non-invasive and minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures are always considered before traditional surgical techniques are considered.
